Edwina Currie talks with her puppet about 'Spitting Image' | Central - ITV News

ABC Newsradio had a segment on the anniversary of Spitting Image the television puppet political satire from the Thatcher era.  They ended with a short comment from Edwina Currie that made her sound simply wishing she wasn't, but the actual interview, with her holding the puppet of her, makes it clear everyone in the British Parliament loved it and that "those who were not on were madly jealous."

"If we weren't in it, we would like to be, and if we were in it we felt rather uncomfortable."  She describes how both sides of the British Parliament listened in seperate, but close rooms, so the laughter would alternate between them.

Edwina Currie was a Conservative politician who published Currie's Diaries, perhaps part of the meme behind the popular television program's name: The Carrie Diaries.
